Scottish Teachers for Permanence is a grassroots movement dedicated to achieving job security for over 4,000 teachers across Scotland. Many are stuck in unstable zero-hour supply, temporary, or fixed-term contracts, with some even forced to claim Universal Credit due to insecure employment. We believe every teacher deserves the opportunity to build a stable and fulfilling career.

Through our campaign, we’ve gained incredible momentum:

• Social Media Advocacy: Engaging thousands on X, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok through @Teachers4Perm, amplifying teachers’ voices and concerns.
• Published Research: Surveys and reports we’ve produced have been mentioned in Parliament, helping secure debates and motions on education.
• Political Engagement: We’ve met with MSPs, shadow education secretaries, and are soon meeting the Education Secretary.
• Real Stories: We’ve published over 90 teacher stories on scottishteachers.uk, showcasing the personal impact of job insecurity.
• Data and FOI Analysis: Using FOI requests to uncover trends, such as the rise in casual supply contracts and the decline in permanent roles.

We’re fundraising to cover essential campaign costs, including:
• Website Costs: Maintaining and updating the site to publish all our findings and make them publicly accessible and the subscription cost for the hosting per month (through Wix)
• FOI Requests: Leveraging platforms like WhatDoTheyKnow to send batch Freedom of Information requests.
• Future Advocacy Efforts: Expanding our campaigns for fairer employment and systemic reform.

Your support will help us continue this critical work, ensuring that teachers’ voices are heard and lasting change is achieved. Every donation allows us to publish more findings, share more stories, and push for a brighter future for Scotland’s teachers and students.
