Story 15

Age: 25

Teaching Experience: 2-4 years

Contract Type: Fixed Term

I completed my probation year in 2021/22. I have had to interview three times 2022 – 2024.

In 2022/23 I received a fixed term contract within GCC. This year I received unsuccessful but was given a fixed term contract working in ASN PE which I’m very grateful for as my service has not been broken and I can attend staffing in March 2025 after completing over 2 year continuous service.

I’m still not permanent to the council even though I’ve completed my two year service. I am aware of another PE colleague getting permanency after two fixed term contracts and was given priority before recruitment in 2023, meaning he did not need to interview for a third time unlike myself.

I believe I’ve not been treated with the same consistency and fairness as other PE colleagues who have been in the same situation as recent as last year when no changes have been made to the LNCT 18. I have been back and forward to HR and EIS with this issue.

Last year I was successful in my PE interview and received a fixed term contract in PE. Due to the shortage of PE jobs, I completed 15 weeks from September to December 2023 teaching PSE & H.E, hindering my development in my subject compared to my other PE colleagues.
