Story 55

Age: 26

Teaching Experience: 0-1 years

Contract Type: Permanent

Completed probation year in Glasgow City in 23-24. I heard during this year that the job situation in Glasgow was not looking great for the foreseeable and involved a ‘list’ of candidates ranked by time served in the council of up to 5 years.

Made the decision to relocate my life to Aberdeenshire as thankfully I had no ties. I didn’t want to miss out on important milestones such as securing a mortgage by jumping around from fixed contract to fixed contract.

Many of my friends already had mortgages or families so did not have the luxury of being able to move to the other side of the country at the drop of a hat.

I moved to Aberdeenshire and secured a full time permanent contract – something not possible in Glasgow.
