Story 59

Age: 29

Teaching Experience: 2-4 years

Contract Type: Unemployed due to no jobs

After my probation year I was one of the fortunate ones from my council NLC, many of my friends were given 1 or 2 days a week. I was given two schools, P1 in the morning until lunch time and then P6/7 in the afternoon every day.

The schools were a 15 minute drive from each other but although I was only in each school half a day I was often not getting lunch, staying late trying to make sure I was organised for the multiple different subjects in different levels and trying to attend both meetings/ parents nights.

I done all of this with no complaints in the hope I would secure a permanent post. I was not guaranteed to be kept on at any school, so applied for positions abroad.
