Story 7

Age: 27

Teaching Experience: 5-8 years

Contract Type: Fixed Term

I began teaching in 2020 and completed my probationary year in South Lanarkshire Council, after completing both my undergraduate and Masters Degrees in Education.

In all years since I have scored highly enough to pass at interview yet never secured a permanent post. I have had zero hour supply contracts, fixed term contracts, but never sealed the deal on permanency. I’ve had my continuous service broken time after time, and wonder if I’ll ever be given the opportunity to develop my teaching skills in a permanent post.

Life is on hold until I can secure permanent employment, not the dream I was sold when I began university in 2015.
