Story 77

Age: 27

Teaching Experience: 5-8 years

Contract Type: Fixed Term

After working for Inverclyde council for 4 years and still not gaining permanency, I moved LA where I have been there almost 2 years and waiting on permanency here.

There are lots of teachers within Inverclyde council who have been working for the council on supply or fixed term contracts for 7-8 years and have only just been made permanent.

There have been jobs posted and interviews set for roles to be filled which have then been recounted as “no jobs available” within Inverclyde yet schools have been filling these with supply when there are hundreds of teachers waiting on “the list”, who are years overdue their permanent contract.

I am one of many who have a family and a mortgage and are being treated this way.
