I attended the Strathclyde open day in 2019 where I was told teachers were “guaranteed work” as they were “crying out for Primary teachers”. The next year I decided to apply.

I started probation in 2022 in Falkirk council, I loved my class and other staff and did really well, passed with no issues. I applied for the pool yet didnt receive an interview and was given supply.I applied for Stirling council supply summer 2023, was successful and then applied for several temporary contracts in Stirling. I managed to get one interview out of 5 and was successful! But come summer I was again facing no job and only casual supply.

Unexpectedly I received a text from my previous HT offering me a class for the year. I gratefully accepted. I attended meet the teacher session, then started with the class at beginning of the year on supply then applied for the job I was in, interviewed and waa unsuccessful. Yet have remained in the role on supply instead of a temporary contract.I was told my application was marked very high during the leet yet it was the same application that was previously rejected and has been rejected 6 times since.I now tutor in the evenings which is permanent and have a weekend job because despite teaching full time, it is supply and I have no idea how long I will be there.

I changed careers to spend more time with my children yet now I barely see them as I work three jobs.
